How To Bond With Your Kids During Holidays

Image
The relationship that parents share with their children is so pure and unique that no words can explain or cover the emotions that are related to it. There is no question on the presence of love between a parent and his or her child. Some people feel this is the only relationship worth trusting. The biggest problem is that nowadays most parents find it extremely difficult to bond with their children as they do not have enough time to spend with their children. In this competitive environment, surviving is not an easy job and to make ends meet, both mother and father often have to work. Parents get so busy in their daily work schedule that somehow children get neglected. http://www.freeimages.com/photo/sundown-family-1553623 In a normal routine, your busy schedule may not allow you to bond with your children, but holidays give you an excellent opportunity to leave work troubles behind and come close to your kids. This way you get a break from your hectic work schedule and can

THE IMPORTANCE OF NATURE INTERPRETATION

Image
Bridging the gap Nature interpretation = making meaning by John Roff – environmental educator at Hilton College, Howick, and author of Bridging the gap, a handbook for environmental educators and interpreters. There seems to be an increasing gap between people and nature. Interpretation can be seen as a process of repairing this divide by building bridges, across unfamiliar territory, to places of deeper care and understanding. The simplest definition of interpretation is ‘making meaning’. The interpreter is one who makes or reveals meaning of a place and the living things, processes and human interactions, in which all the participants (including the interpreter) are learning. Interpretation happens in many ways, from guided tours to brochures, signboards, slideshows, living theatre and many others. The principles in this section can be applied in any place, to any kind of interpretation. “Interpretation is first and foremost a communication process, to reveal

Time outdoors boosts kids' connection with nature

Spending a lot of time  outdoors boosts children's spiritual connection  with the Earth and the sense that they need to protect it, researchers report. The small new study included 10 children, aged 7 and 8. According to the authors, a strong attachment to nature was seen in those who spent five to 10 hours a week outside. "These values are incredibly important to human development and well-being," researcher Gretel Van Wieren, an assistant professor of religious studies at Michigan State University, said in a university news release. Peacefulness and happiness "We were surprised by the results. Before we did the study, we asked, 'Is it just a myth that children have this deep connection with nature?' But we found it to be true in pretty profound ways," she added. Why kids need fruit and veggies

Many a parent has surrendered to the indomitable will of a child who refuses to eat any fruit or vegetable. Other kids go through fads where anything green is considered toxic or the only form of fruit that passes their lips is a fruit smoothie. Surveys show that the consumption of fruits and veggies is dropping to worrisome levels among children. Many kids replace such foods with processed products that have little or no nutrition, such as soft drinks instead of juice. Jane Collins, the medical director of London's Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, says parents should try any way they can to inveigle children to eat their fruits and vegetables. In her column for The Times of London, Collins describes the necessary nutrients that children miss as finicky eaters: Vitamin C  helps the body to absorb iron and to heal wounds and keeps skin and gums healthy. It is easily destroyed by heat so food is best eaten raw or only lightly cooked. Sources include citrus fruits, ki
