WATER WATER EVERYWHERE….. BUT IS IT?
Why Is Water Precious?
All living things depend
on water for survival. Plants need water to make food and grow. Many animals
and plants live in water. Without water, there would be no food to eat, no
clothes to wear, and no toys to play with. In fact, without water, we wouldn't exist!
Did you know?
Earth’s water is used over
and over again. The water you use daily is older than the dinosaurs! The first
water that appeared on Earth is all we will ever have. Nature’s water-recycling
process, known as the water cycle, has kept the amount of water on Earth about
the same for millions of years.
Test yourself
Did you know that your
body is 70 percent water? That means a person who weighs 45kgs is made of 32
kgs of water (almost 32 liters!). Find
out how much water you are made of by weighing yourself and then multiplying
your weight by 0.7.

How can you save water?
- Report leaky taps at your school or at home to help save water. Remember, one leaking tap can waste more than 2,000 litres a month.
- Be water wise – shower don’t bath
- Don't let the tap run while you are brushing your teeth (this will use 6Lt of water instead of just 1Lt)
- Install a rainwater harvesting tank and use rain, your FREE source of water to wash your clothes and dishes and water the garden.
- A water tank will make sure that you have access to water no matter what
